The Jewish Rothschild family has for many decades maintained a close link to the State of Israel. There are many connections between Israel and the Rothschilds. A predecessor of Edouard's, named Baron Edmond Benjamin James de Rothschild, was one of the most active promoters of Zionism in the early 20th century. His father Guy de Rothschild was a close friend of the current State President Schimon Peres.
Strong ties exist to the former Palestine and now to Israel, and these are expressed by way of various projects and foundations. To date the family has financed a large number of projects in Israel, of which the parliament buildings, the Knesset, and the buildings of the highest courts are only the best known.
Edouard de Rothschild therefore accepted the invitation of the Israeli Equestrian Federation in the summer of 2010 to represent Israel in the international showsl. "It's a great honour for me, as an active sportsman, to be able to represent Israel," said Edouard de Rothschild. He hopes it will help move Israeli riding more into the public eye.
Not only this: Edouard de Rothschild also wants to get involved with helping young talented riders. In future, young riders from Israel are to be brought to world class level in training courses with top international riders.
